Interested in joining Mountain Lakes Research Group?
Our group hires a summer seasonal field team most years. For updates on openings or examples of past advertisements, please see our News page; applications are generally solicited in December and January.
If you are a graduate student interested in working with us: Dr. Smith can not advise students directly. I can act as a co-advisor or a committee member for MS or PhD students. This requires a high degree of overlap in research interests, and a lot of organization + communication by students, given that I am based at SNARL and not on UCSB campus. This can be a challenge or an opportunity. Finding a primary advisor will be your first step. Our colleagues in the RIBBiTR Biological Integration Institute are a group of amazing graduate advisors; if they are a good fit for a student, that smooths the integration of graduate study into our work here in the Sierra Nevada.
If you are a postdoc or a finishing PhD student considering your next adventure, please contact Drs. Smith or Knapp to discuss research proposals and funding requirements.
